Dr Anika Tiplady – Sports Medicine Practitioner
Anika was born and raised in Christchurch of Ngai Tahu descent. She left the New Zealand Army in 2010 but still has strong links with the Military remaining part of the reserve forces as a Doctor. Anika is a graduate of the University of Otago.
Anika is passionate about sports, particularly rugby having retired from the elite level in 2012 after several years as a Black Fern. Anika then went on to win a national title with the Canterbury Pride in the National Women’s Football League and a gold medal in the Coast to Coast (teams event).
Anika is the current team doctor with the Canterbury Women’s Rugby team and Canterbury Mitre 10 cup team and is also one of the Super Rugby matchday doctors.
Research interests include:
- innovative techniques for management of acute knee injuries
- injury surveillance in women’s rugby
